1. Alternative Energy is no longer a choice- “ ‘to exercise’ or ‘not to exercise’”- it’s more a compulsion now. Within this compulsion we have a choice to make from the various alternatives- Nuclear, Solar, Wind (offshore /Onshore), Bio Gas,etc.Each of these alternatives has their own pros and cons which needs evaluation and best step out forward.
2. The ‘Gadgeted life’ needs a hard look- can we go back slightly to basics and learn from our parents and grandparents? Can we make a conscious choice to reduce this enormous wastage of the wonderful invention of ‘Electric Bulbs’ of Thomas Edison after he discovered ‘Electricity’?
3. UAE and GCC is committed to develop the alternative Energy resource. In this regard have announced Nuclear Program (Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Qatar) as well Solar Energy program (Dubai).
4. Nuclear Energy apparently seems a preferred alternative in view of the obvious advantage possessed (life cycle cost for per Megawatt, availability, efficiency, etc.)as compared to other low carbon alternatives at this juncture.
5. Leading edge technology is the need of the hour and every nation needs to work towards finding one that suits them best.
6. ‘Let the Alternative Energy Renaissance Begin’. Its time for us to pool our Insurance Resources and contribute to the risk management in the Alternative Energy.
